1. Who can use Study Compass
Study Compass is run by a Victorian sole trader (ABN 89 274 700 789). A parent or carer aged 18 or over opens the account and adds their children. You're responsible for your account and for how your children use Study Compass. Children sign in with a username their parent sets up, and never need their own email address.
2. Free trial and subscriptions
Every family gets 14 days free with no card needed. After that, Study Compass is a family subscription paid monthly or yearly. Prices are on the pricing page in Australian dollars.
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. If prices change, we'll email you at least 30 days before your next payment.
3. Cancelling and refunds
Cancel any time from the Subscription tab in the grown-ups area. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
If you pay yearly and change your mind within 14 days, email hello@studycompass.com.au for a full refund. If something on our side stops you using Study Compass properly, or we've charged you by mistake, we'll make it right. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
4. Our writing marker and practice scores
Our writing marker is an intelligent marking engine, powered by AI and built on robust marking guidelines, the published writing criteria and proven writing frameworks. It scores your child's writing against the standard for the test they're preparing for: the ten NAPLAN writing criteria for NAPLAN-style practice, and our own selective entry rubric for Victorian selective entry and HAST writing. You get year-level benchmarks and clear next steps in seconds. Maths, reading and reasoning questions are marked automatically against set answers.
Like any marker, it can occasionally get things wrong. Practice scores, including NAPLAN-style, selective entry and HAST-style results, are estimates based on published marking criteria and patterns from previous years' tests. They aren't official results, and real results can differ.
5. Using it fairly
Each subscription is for one family. Please don't share your login with other families, copy or resell our lessons and questions, or try to break or overload the site. If an account is misused, we may suspend it after contacting you.
6. Our content
Lessons, questions, audio and designs on Study Compass belong to us. You can use them for your own family's learning. NAPLAN is a trade mark of ACARA. HAST and the Victorian selective entry test are run by ACER. Study Compass isn't affiliated with or endorsed by ACARA, ACER, the VCAA or any education department.
7. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how we look after it.
8. Changes, liability and the law that applies
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email you before the change takes effect. As far as the law allows, we're not responsible for indirect losses, and our total liability is limited to what you've paid us in the last 12 months. These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia.
